김승환 교수는 포스텍 물리학과 교수 및 박태준미래전략연구소장으로 재직중이다. 그는 1987년 미국 펜실베이니아대학교 물리학과 박사학위를 취득한 후, 코넬대학교 수리과학연구소 연구원, 프린스턴 고등연구소 연구원을 거쳐 1990년 포스텍(당시 포항공대)에 부임했다. 그는 대학내 연구처장, 산학협력단장, 대학원장 등을 역임하였으며, 대외적으로 한국물리학회 회장, 국가교육과학기술자문회의 수석전문위원, 과실연 공동대표, 한국과학창의재단 이사장 등으로 봉사했다. 또한 아태이론물리센터 (APCTP) 사무총장/소장, 아태물리학연합회 (AAPPS) 평의원/회장으로 아시아태평양 지역의 학술교류 및 발전에 이바지하고 FMSTAN 한국대표, 과학기술외교클럽 회장, 과총 과학기술외교위원장 등 민간차원의 과학기술 외교의 인식과 확산에 지속적으로 기여해왔다.


Dr. Seunghwan Kim is currently a professor of physics and a director of TJPI at POSTECH, Pohang, Korea. After receiving a Ph.D in physics from U. Pennsylvania in USA, he worked as a research fellow at MSRI and CAM at Cornell University and IAS in Princeton. He served as the Director of Brain Research Center, Dean of Research Affairs, and Dean of Graduate Studies at POSTECH and contributed to the advancement of multi-lateral academic activities and developments in the Asia Pacific region as President of Korean Physical Society and President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Physical Societies. He has been actively involved with the promotion of science diplomacy as President of Korean Foundation for Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC), President of Science Diplomacy Club, Chairman of Science Diplomacy committee at KOFST, and a Korean member of FMSTAN.
