연세대학교 사학과와 대학원을 졸업하고 문학박사를 받았다. 현재 상명대학교 역사콘텐츠학과 교수로 재직 중이며 인문사회대 학장을 지냈다. 한국사 교과서 집필자협의회 대표, 한일역사공동연구위원회 근현대사분과 간사, 대한민국역사박물관장을 역임했다. KOICA의 ODA사업으로 진행된 [DR콩고 국립박물관 건립사업]의 총괄 PM을 지냈다. 아울러 재외동포재단의 해외한글학교 교사들을 위한 연수에서 여러차례 기조강연을 하였으며 우즈베키스탄, 미국과 일본에 현지강연도 다녀왔다. <한국근대사> <한국여성사 깊이 읽기>를 비롯한 여러 책을 저술하였다.

Professor Chinoh, Chu, graduated from Yonsei University and received a doctorate in Liberal Arts. He is currently a professor of History at Sangmyung University. Also he was the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sangmyung University. He served as the Director General of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in 2017. Major books include "Korean Modern History” "Deep Reading of Korean Women’s History”.
