Hong Jin-pyo was born in Gwangju City, South Korea in 1963. Since enrolling in Seoul National University in 1982, he has been engaged in pro-democracy movement for more than 10 years, and has been imprisoned three times by authoritarian regimes. Since the late 1990s, he has contributed to the publication of the social theory magazine <The Zeitgeist> and the North Korean human rights movement. He has been a standing commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission for three years since 2011. His book is <Intellect and anti-intellectualism>(2005)

홍진표는 1963년 한국 광주광역시 출생으로 현재 시민단체인 시대정신의 상임이사로 재직중이다. 1982년 서울대학교 입학이후 10여년 이상 민주화운동에 종사하여, 그로인해 세차례 투옥되기도 하였다. 1990년대 후반부터는 사회이론잡지인 <시대정신> 발간과 북한인권운동에 기여하였다. 2011년부터 3년동안 국가인권위원회 상임위원으로 활동했다. 저서는 <지성과 반지성>(2005) 등이 있다.
